Live aircraft, on your desk

Look up.
Know what it is.

A small instrument that reads what aircraft are broadcasting overhead and tells you what's passing: what it is, where it came from, and how long until it's over your roof.

The display

Five things,
then it leaves you alone.

One aircraft at a time, whichever is most worth looking at. It changes every few seconds. There is nothing to operate, no app to keep open, no notifications.

i

Callsign

Who it is. Green when the aircraft is in the part of the sky you can actually see from your window, amber when it isn't, so you know before you get up.

ii

Where to look

Distance and compass bearing, with an arrow showing the direction it's flying. Point yourself that way and you'll find it.

iii

Route, then type

Alternates between where it's going and what it actually is: A220-300, 737 MAX 8, Cessna 172. White for the route, cyan for the machine.

iv

Altitude, and a countdown

Height and whether it's climbing or descending. When something is about to pass close, this is where the seconds tick down.

What makes it different

It tells you
before it happens.

Most trackers list whatever is nearest. This one works out where each aircraft will be, so the jet about to cross your roof outranks the training flight parked at two miles. When something is going to pass close, the panel counts it down to the second, and you get to be looking up before it arrives.

Companion app

A minute of setup,
then never again.

Where you are, which way you face, your Wi-Fi, how far you care about. After that the instrument runs on its own.

The widget comes with the device. Away from your desk it points you at what's overhead: which way to turn, how high to look. It follows you while you move.

Made to be
lived with.

No fan, no beeping, no notifications. It sits there and glows, and you look at it when you feel like looking up.

Rarely, and never to fill space. Where the project is, when the first batch ships, and the real price before anyone else. It is also the key that unlocks the files.
